Caney, Dodd City, TX 75438 to consider adopting a proposed tax rate for tax year 2026. The proposed tax rate is 0.300000 per $100 of value. The proposed tax rate would increase total taxes in Dodd City by 24.3 %. The City’s Water & Sewer Utility has experienced increased costs related to a $180,000 Dollar Water Capital Improvements Project, by completely repairing & refurbishing the City’s only Elevated Tank, constructed in the Eighties (80’s), and a Ground Storage Tank, constructed in the Nineties (90’s). The last time either was repaired was more than 10+ years ago, and it goes without saying, both tanks in constant contact with water do not improve with age. Also, cost to replace the tanks would cost more than $1,000,000 Dollars. Please know that we will continue to provide quality service at the least possible cost. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2026-2027 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET The City of Dodd City (City) City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 fiscal year budget on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at City Hall/Community Center, 304 South Caney Street, Dodd City, Texas. The public is encouraged to review the City’s proposed budget on the City of Dodd City website at www.cityofdoddcity.org or view a paper copy of the budget in the City Secretary’s Office. THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MORE TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR’S BUDGET BY $22,007 OR 25.78% AND OF THAT AMOUNT $1,188.42 IS TAX REVENUE FROM NEW PROPERTY ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL THIS YEAR. The public may comment by providing written comments either through the mail or email to the addresses below. Any written comments will be included with information provided to the City Council for their consideration. Members of the public are encouraged to provide input through any means available and/or to participate in the public hearing. Stage 1 LIFTED – MILD Water Shortage Condition – NO LONGER IN EFFECT
CITY OF DODD CITY Stage 1 LIFTED – MILD Water Shortage Condition – NO LONGER IN EFFECT. Michael Keene, Mayor, City of Dodd City, Texas, has determined that continued Implementation of applicable provisions of the City’s Drought Contingency Plan is NO LONGER NECESSARY. The City’s only Elevated Water Storage Tank and one (1) of the City’s Ground Water Storage Tanks have been repaired and refurbished and are now back in service. Therefore, effective August 11, 2026, Stage 1 – Mild Water Shortage Condition is Lifted and No Longer in Effect. However, due to weather forecasts of continuing extreme temperatures, City of Dodd City Municipal Water Customers are requested to voluntarily practice good water conservation measures. Notice of Stage 1 – MILD Water Shortage Condition
Michael Keene, Mayor, City of Dodd City, Texas, has determined that Implementation of applicable provisions of the City’s Drought Contingency Plan is necessary to protect public health, safety, and welfare. Therefore, effective at 12:01 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026, Stage 1 – MILD Water Shortage Condition, will be initiated. Shortage conditions have been created due to the City’s only Elevated Water Storage Tank and one (1) of the City’s Ground Water Storage Tanks being taken out of service to repair and refurbish. All City of Dodd City Municipal Water Customers are requested to voluntarily reduce water use by practicing water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes, including limiting outside irrigation. It is anticipated that the Water Shortage Condition will remain for a minimum of 20 days while the tanks are repaired and refurbished. Your voluntary compliance is essential so that additional more stringent measures are not needed.
